WHAT’S ON
LOUIS TUSSAUD’S WAX MUSEUM
This museum, which is a variation of the more famous Madame Tussauds, contains 68 statues on display, mainly from the world of entertainment.
Inside, the waxworks are split up into 9 different zones: Pop Stars, Chamber of Secrets, British Royalty, Political & Humanitarian Leaders, Horror Den, Batman & Friends and Celebrates in Character.
In the first rather dark hall stands Thailand’s princess of pop Tata Young. On either side of her are models of Will Smith and Eddie Murphy.
Each character has its own small digital screen nearby, telling in Thai and English of their claims to fame. Most also have a short clip of them in action.
Elsewhere in the first zone are celebrities ranging from Thai acting superstars Ken Theeradecth and Ann Thongprasom to Miley Cirus and the Beckhams.
Around the corner, and past a rather incongruous figure of a meditating monk, is the sports section. Tennis star Paradon Srichaphan and half-Thai Tiger Woods are the main draws, while Bruce Lee re-creates a pose from one of his movies.
Zone 3 is all about music stars, with stars like Michael Jackson and Britney Spears getting their chance to shine.
Brits will most likely enjoy seeing Harry Potter and Princess Diana on show.
The central zone is a large, pseudo-palatial room for world leaders, such as the Dalai Lama Zhou Enlai, Mahatma Gandhi, Hitler and, of course, Barack Obama.
And finally there’s a collection of Batman villains, as well as the caped crusader himself, some characters from Star Trek, Dracula and Frankenstein and finally a rather random series of celebs, such as Hilton.
The exhibit is housed on the second floor of Royal Garden Shopping Mall and is open 11:00 to 23:00 daily and cost Baht 600 for adults and Baht 300 for children.
